After his death in 1907, the funeral procession included 125 horse drawn carriages, 40 horsemen and the Burnie Federal Band (read the bandmaster’s story).
It was serendipitous that Thomas David Swain’s grandfather had a chance encounter with Captain Jones many years earlier (read his story). Thomas’ grandfather was David Blizzard who was then a young man when he ran into the Captain on his journey to fetch for a doctor. So there you have it. With social networking and advances in technology, we appear to be closer than ever before. Many of us are experiencing greater connectivity, which continues to grow, more so in this part of the world. Who knows who we might run into to define our six degrees of separation.

Captain William Jones was my great great grandfather , my mothers name was Rita Finn (nee Cousins) she was born in 1926 in Burnie Tasmania , her parents passed the same year, Percival David Cousins and Elizabeth Marie
