In 1884, Lewis Herbert Shepperd emigrated to Tasmania. He sailed together with Richard and Harry Franks and future sister-in-law, Sarah Jane Franks. Sarah’s fiancé and Lewis Herbert’s brother, Francis Henry Shepperd, was already residing in Tasmania. Previously he had been a clerk at Beckington, England, which is where the Franks family came from.
My question is whether there was a typo in the caption as I am not aware of a farm owned by C Franks. Could this have been Harry Franks’ potato farm?

I am the granddaughter of Dorothy (Doff) Franks (who later married Vinton Salter) who was the one of the children born to Harry Franks & Annie Franks (nee Gale).

How interesting. I would be very interested if you have any old photos of the family that I can publish on this website, of course with your permission. You can upload the photos through the Contact form at the bottom of this webpage.

I believe the potato paddock pictured was on Richard (Dick) Franks' property .The photo appears to be taken just south of the old Elliott post office looking east.
