8 June 1911 Insert 4 George Kelshaw Illingworth who died in May 1911 at the Launceston General Hospital. He was born at Exton in 1864, educated at Launceston and went to Waratah where he engaged in a storekeeping business. A couple of years later he extended his business to Burnie where he later resided. |

20 July 1911 Insert 4 Eileen Connolly of Mooreville State School won the prize offered in connection with coronation celebrations by the Burnie branch of the ANA for the best essay on Australian History by a student attending any school in the municipality of Emu Bay. Twenty essays were received. |

10 August 1911 Insert 4 Favourite team of horses, owned by M Gaffney. These horses worked on the Balfour-Whale’s Head road for two years. They are the last descendants of draught mares imported by the VDL Company. The photograph was taken at Mr Hayward’s stables in Burnie, previous to shipping the horses to the mainland. |
